Goodbye from the Scarsdale Braai
(and a little Thank You!)
Hello, fellow South Africans! We’re sad to say that we’re taking a holiday from the Scarsdale Braai this year.
After 16 years, we’ve had our fun and kind of want to take a break.
(We might come back - maybe we’ll do a Braai Cruise or slip the Braai onto the back of a summer concert that our event colleagues produce.)
We’ve always had fun doing the Braai but it was a lot of work – especially the clean-up.
Our family loved it and we know so many of you brought up your kids with us. The Braai gave them, and our kids, a connection to the old country – so we hope others will keep the tradition going.
FRIENDS OF THE BRAAI
We don’t want to close up shop completely and so we are planning a Friends and Family mini-Scarsdale Braai in our backyard. This is where the Braai started and this is where we’ll bring it home.
So if you are one of those wonderful people who have come for many years – drop us a note at info@scarsdalebraai.com and we’ll try to put you on the guest list.
PS The Dalai Braai: Like Nelson Mandela & Bishop Tutu, we were dismayed when the Dalai Lama was disinvited from South Africa. We think he deserves better hospitality than that, so anytime the Dalai wishes to catch up on Boerewors and Kwela, we’ll throw him a Braai, anywhere, anytime!
